Biography
“I endeavor to express the unknown, the mystical
and the unexpected in my artwork” Ellie
Ellie was born in Havana, Cuba; and presently resides in Coral Gables, Florida. She is fully dedicated to her passion—painting, and has been a working artist for the past ten years. Ellie has shown her work in galleries, art festivals, group exhibits and art-related charitable events. As her art has attracted the attention of judges and galleries along the way, her paintings have been featured from South Florida to Groton, Connecticut; and her art has traveled to private collectors abroad.

Regardless of the theme gracing her artwork, Ellie’s Latin roots are at the core and center stage of each and every piece she creates. Her paintings depict movement, bold colors, energy and the passion she brings with her from her native Cuba. Having left the island at the age of eleven, her memories embrace the zest and vibrancy which influence her unique style. Her art invites the viewer to be fully present and become a part of the experience.
Kane has studied under watercolorist David Maddern, and specialized in oils and acrylics with the guidance of Chilean artist Jaime Ferrer. She has participated in various programs by author/artist Laura Cerwinske; and portrait drawing with Yugoslavian artist Silvius Krecu, as well as Diana Neville. Ellie takes part in workshops by Cuban artists Baruj Salinas and Yovani Bauta; and has studied Contemporary Art courses by Dr. Milagros Bello, professor/curator. As a member of W-10, a group comprised of Latin-American women artists, she has been involved in many installations under curator Yovani Bauta.
Ellie admires and enjoys the poetry of Rumi and Maya Angelou…the music of Manzareno. The following quote by Kahill Gibran, which she keeps in her studio, surrounds her with inspiration and resolve:
“I have met the soul walking upon my path…the soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals”
